Virginia’s Western Highlands Artisan Trail officially launched in November, 2012.
There are almost 70 sites across the 4-county region. Here’s what’s in Craig:
For local art, visit Craig County Artisan Center & Farmers Market in New Castle and upstairs at the General Store in Paint Bank. In the fall, Joe’s Trees Gift Shop is stocked with homemade jams and jellies, local art, and award-winning evergreen wreaths.
The restaurant on the trail is the Swinging Bridge in Paint Bank. which along with delicious food, has great photo ops and a roaring fireplace on chilly days.
Lodging includes The Farmhouse, The Sublett Place, and The Depot Lodge.
Wilderness Adventure at Eagle Landing offers lodging, meals and great outdoor recreation. Call them to ask about spending an afternoon on the Zip-Line!
Agri-tourism opportunities are Joe’s Trees – Next Gen Farm, Black Diamond Ranch, and Barefoot Farms. Craig also is lucky to have Woodall Blueberries and Silver Lining Asparagus, in season of course!
Points of Interest are the Old Brick Hotel and the Visitor’s Center at the Public Library.
Truly, something for everyone!
